This drawing was for me a real step forward in my search for rendering in traditional techniques. Until then, I preferred a simple rendering with lines and without necessarily trying to give volume. This first try was satisfactory for me and led me to a new style, making me want to work on larger formats.
The tea box is for me a beautiful object which makes the link between sight and smell in a harmonious way. Traditional tea boxes are long, slender and often have a multitude of enigmatic inscriptions. The tree symbolizes life for me, I chose to personify it on this drawing with a mask to add a little touch of fantasy evoking the Sylvains.
